A dear friend passed away a few days ago. Please keep her husband and family in your prayers.
In our Catholic tradition we often look to the angels and saints for strength and hope during difficult times. Saint Michael the Archangel has always been one of my favorites at times such as these:
Saint Michael, watch over us during life, defend us against the assaults of the demon, and assist us especially at the hour of death. Help us achieve the happiness of beholding God face to face for all eternity. Amen
And an angel came and stood at the altar with a golden censer; and he was given much incense to mingle with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar before the throne; and the smoke of the incense rose with the prayers of the saints from the hand of the angel before God.
– Revelation 8:3-4
For all those that have lost a loved one, may you find peace and comfort in the memories of love shared and in the prayers offered and received before God on their behalf.
My friend that passed away loved flowers, roses in particular, and the following poem by Margaret Mead, Remember Me, seems fitting:

Reflection questions:
- This little book, Gone From My Sight, written by a hospice nurse, is an excellent resource “to help people understand dying, their own or someone else’s.” I have used it and seen it used effectively in palliative care and hospice situations. https://www.amazon.com/Gone-My-Sight-Dying-Experience/dp/B00072HSCY
